No time like the present. Resources for house cleaning and organizing on a budget.

There's more time. I'll get to it tomorrow. I'll do it later. Maybe on Saturday.
Believe me, I have the same fights with myself when it's time to do things that I completely despise!
It's human nature to want to enjoy what little down time that we have instead of wasting it on more work...right?
Putting the dishes away, folding the laundry, changing your sheets, cleaning the bathroom. A bunch of annoying and repetitive tasks that would honestly take no more than a few minutes, just seem like the last things on earth that we want to do.
Either we are too busy, have no time, will do it once we get the kids down for bed or just exhausted. Some just hate anything that has to do with cleaning all together.
But eventually, later turns into tomorrow, then I'll get to it on Saturday, then maybe next weekend when I'm not so tired, then next month on the 3rd Saturday right before the kids go back to school.
Procrastination is a beast and I promise you, as I'm sure you already know, time flies.
All of a sudden after weeks, months and years of putting these small tasks to the side, stepping over piles of clothes, no longer sure which pile is clean or dirty. Throwing all of the socks in a basket on the side of the washing machine, loading the, once guest room, with all of the little things on the do list; clothes that need to be dropped off to the donation bin that has now turned into 20 big black garbage bags. The stroller that broke but can be fixed, the massive amounts of beautiful projects the kids brought home from school, and the broken chairs that just need some wood glue, amongst others, things have gotten too out of control.
Well Saturday is finally here but in reality, it's truly 5 years later.
Your confused, overwhelmed and disgusted with yourself. You have no idea where to get started and know for a fact that there is no way you can do it alone.
Who can you call?
You have alienated everyone.
You stopped attending the book club because you would have to host at some point.
You stopped attending dinners with family and friends at their houses because at some point they may want to come to your home and do the same.
You don't know the last time you spoke to your friends on the phone let alone had a girl or guys night out.
Well take a deep breath, relax, keep reading and keep in mind there is no time like the present. Resources for house cleaning & organizing on a budget are available. As long as you get started, take baby steps and ask for help, if you need it, you will achieve your desired outcome!
If you're in the beginning push off to tomorrow stage, meaning, things are a little messy and you can tackle it on your own.
Set an alarm for the same time each day.... that
will be cleaning time. Start with one task and work your way through them each day until your back on track. One room at a time. I say one room at a time because the rush that you will get will make you want to do more rooms. If you do a little in each room and every time you open that door you see little to no progress, you will get discouraged and we don't want that!
If you're in the overwhelmed stage, "I can't do this shit by myself stage", reach out to a local cleaning lady/man or company. Find a person who does cleaning or organizing, whichever you need. If it's both, ask them...sometimes you can find a two for one deal with the same person.
They will come in, do a walk through and should have a conversation with you about your needs, budget and when you'd like to start!
If you're in the holy shit stage or know someone who is, where everything is everywhere and there's no place for you to sleep or eat because your home is that out of control, again, reach out to local businesses. You can also call your Town Hall, local DSS and churches and they can give you numbers to call to contact the resources that you need.
Don't ever feel embarrassed or get discouraged!
Don't let anyone shame you!
The way I see it is we all have gifts and cleaning/ organizing just isn't yours...and that's okay!!Remember the goal is to get your space back to being a safe and clean environment for you and your family.
Now, I know there are some of you reading this that are saying, " who the hell has the money for that?"
Well to be honest with you, everyone does. There are plenty of small businesses out there that are willing to come and provide cleaning, organizing, gardening tasks and so on for our local community members who are in hard times at prices that you can afford. Some that are just starting who would love to use your home for the experience or to train new staff and those who just love to give back to someone who is having a hard time. You just have to take the time and make the calls to find us!
Many of us have special pricing plans set up specifically for our community members who need us, sometimes we donate our services completely free of charge.
There is always someone, most times closer than you think, that is ready to provide the support you need!
Until next time, remember, we all procrastinate and we are all human. This is a judge free zone!
Take control back...there's no time like the present!
